Teen Zone
 

Formerly known as the Teen Advisory Board, BTPL’s new Teen Zone give teens an opportunity to preview and select books, music, movies, and video games for the library, interact with other area teens, and participate in planning and organizing teen programs.   Each zone will focus on a specific genre or activity.

Discuss the genre of teen “Chick Lit” and help select titles for the library’s teen collection.

 

 


College is Yours—In 600 Words:
College Admission Workshops with Patrick O’Connor

If you think applying to college is complicated, it is time to get back to basics! Join Patrick O’Connor, an award winning author and the Roeper School’s Director of College Counseling, in two sessions on selecting and getting into the college that is best for you.  

Sessions will be from 7:00 to 8:30 on the following dates:
Monday, September 15:   Choosing a College, The SAT & ACT, Visiting a College, and Organizing the Applications
Monday, September 22:   Letters of Recommendation, College Essays, and Financial Aid

Students are welcome to bring their parents! No registration is necessary.


Algebra Club—This Fall Only!
Fridays, September 5 through November 21
3:30 – 5:30 pm
For students in grades 7 and 8

Want to gain a better understanding of Algebra I?  Experienced peer tutors
and math-enthusiasts Seong Hyun Hwang and Seong Wook Hwang will guide students though class work and problems in this special fall course for middle school students. 

The Algebra Club will be held on the following dates:  123
September 5, 12, 19, 26
October 10, 17, 24
November 7, 14, 21
 
Space is very limited and only those students who are motivated to attend each session should register. 

Registration begins August 25 for Bloomfield Township residents. Non-residents may register beginning September 2, if room is still available.

Tutor Me!
Tutors provide instruction in English, Math, Science and Social Studies for students in grades 4 through 12 using a real-time shared computer chat and whiteboard session.

A collection of databases available through the library on a variety of subjects.

Need Help With Your Homework?
Our Teen Homework Coaches may be able to assist you.  This service is for Township residents in grades 6-10 and runs from September to June.    To request a homework coach, call 248-642-5800 ext 171, or visit Adult Services for more information. 

Wanted:  Teen Homework Coaches
High school
volunteers
are needed to provide one-on-one homework coaching to students in grades 6-10 at the library.   This is an excellent opportunity for National Honor Society members or other high school students to earn community service hours and make a difference in the Bloomfield Township community.   Call 248-642-5800 ext 171, or visit Adult Services for more information.
